Our ingredient philosophy

At Well by Orion Pharma, we believe that skincare should be a source of comfort and confidence, especially during life’s most sensitive moments, like pregnancy and early parenthood. That’s why we’ve carefully crafted our products to be fragrance-free, vegan, and exceptionally gentle for the whole family.

A thoughtful balance of nature and science

We believe in the power of both natural and synthetic ingredients. Each has its own strengths, and when combined thoughtfully, they can complement each other to create effective and stable formulations. Our goal is to harness the best of both worlds—natural ingredients for their nurturing properties and synthetic ones for their consistency and reliability.

Our ingredients – chosen with care

Every ingredient in our products is selected with purpose, backed by science, and designed to support your skin’s natural balance:

  • Glycerin: A trusted humectant that draws moisture into the skin, keeping it smooth and comfortable.
  • Ceramides: Lipids that help restore and strengthen the skin’s natural barrier, essential for maintaining healthy, resilient skin.
  • Vitamin E: A well-known antioxidant that helps protect the skin from environmental stressors.
  • Hyaluronic acid: A moisture-binding molecule that helps keep skin hydrated and plump by attracting and holding water—up to 1000% of its weight.
  • Betaine: A naturally derived moisturizer from sugar beets that helps maintain hydration and softness.
  • Allantoin: A gentle skin-soothing ingredient that helps calm irritation and supports skin regeneration.
  • Panthenol (Provitamin B5): A deeply hydrating and skin-conditioning ingredient that helps improve softness and elasticity.
  • Centella asiatica extract (Cica): A botanical ingredient celebrated for its calming and skin-repairing properties.
  • Shea butter: Rich in fatty acids, it nourishes and protects the skin, leaving it soft and supple.

Natural oils: 

    • Avocado oil: Deeply nourishing and rich in vitamins A, D, and E.
    • Sunflower seed oil: Lightweight and high in linoleic acid, it supports the skin’s natural barrier.
    • Oat oil: Known for its soothing and calming properties, ideal for delicate skin.
    • Canola oil: A gentle, skin-conditioning oil rich in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, helping to maintain moisture and support skin softness.

What we leave out matters too

Just as we carefully choose what goes into our products, we’re equally mindful of what we leave out. To keep our formulas as gentle and family-friendly as possible, our products are free from:

  • Fragrances, to minimize the risk of irritation and support sensitive skin.
  • Colorants: No added dyes, just clean and simple formulations.
  • Silicones: We focus on breathable, skin-friendly textures.
  • Sulphates: No harsh foaming agents that can strip the skin.
  • Essential oils avoided due to their potential to irritate sensitive or reactive skin.
  • Drying alcohols: We only use moisturizing forms of alcohol, such as Cetyl Alcohol, when needed.
  • Parabens: We choose alternative preservatives that meet modern standards

Certified for your peace of mind

All our cosmetic products are developed with the highest standards of skin sensitivity in mind. That’s why each product is either created in collaboration with the Finnish Allergy, Skin and Asthma Federation or is certified by AllergyCertified, an international certification body focused on allergy safety. These partnerships reflect our commitment to creating products that are suitable for sensitive skin and for those who want to avoid unnecessary exposure to potential allergens.

Going beyond the basics: how we evaluate ingredients

At Well by Orion Pharma, we’re committed to going further in how we assess the ingredients in our products. That’s why we’ve partnered with the Swedish company TKT Sweden to conduct independent in silico safety assessments for most of our cosmetics. These advanced, computer-based evaluations use publicly available toxicological data to help us understand how ingredients may interact with the body.

Based on these assessments, the raw materials used in our products have not been found to interfere with hormonal function, offering added reassurance for those who want to make informed skincare choices. You can read more about our approach here.
